Justin Tomasulo Jr. Golf Profile

Very few people are fortunate enough to make a profession out of what they truly love. With the guidance and support of close family, friends, and sponsors, I am determined to reach my ultimate goal of competing amongst the best and helping make golf more enjoyable for ALL levels or golfers.

My father, having arrived in Canada from Italy in his early twenties, secured a position at the prestigious Mississauga Golf and Country Club. While there, he quickly befriended the Professionals. It was these relationships that not only convinced my father to stay in Canada permanently, but also further developed his love of the game. Today I am happy to report that my father, who still actively plays, has a handicap of 11(ish). Because of him, my passion for golf began at an early age.

Growing up in Stratford, the Country Club was my home course for many years. My father taught me the basics at an early age and by the time I was 11, my competitive career had begun. I am honoured to have my name on the Stratford Country Club’s junior club champion, junior match-play and men’s club championship trophies. I am (as I understand) also one shot off the course record of 63.

While attending St. Michael’s Secondary School, I was the only student to compete in five consecutive seasons on the high school varsity golf team. In my final year I was the individual champion when we captured the golf title at the highest level of high school golf competition in my area (WOSSA). I competed on the Tyson Tour (The same junior tour that Mike Weir competed on), and subsequently graduated to the highest level of junior competition in Canada – the Royal Academy of Golf tour (now the CJGA).

After high school I opted to focus on academics rather than competitive play. In 1999 I graduated with honours from the Professional Golf Management program at Georgian College, a program that is endorsed by the Canadian Professional Golfers’ Association.

Since graduating I have attempted to expand my golf expertise by working at numerous golf facilities, both public and private. I have been employed at Donalda Club, Cambridge Golf and Country Club, Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club and Canada's best new golf course for 2006, The Ridge at Manitou, The Canadian Golf and Country Club and currently operate JTgolf at Emerald Hills Golf Club and DiamondBack Golf Club.

At the end of the 2003 season, it was decided with the help of my coach that dedicating the off-season to swing changes would be most beneficial. With that in mind, I traveled to the world-class practice facility at the Tobago Plantations Resort in Tobago, West Indies. When I returned to Toronto in the spring of 2004, I was fitted with new Titleist 704 CB irons. For the 2004 off-season I once again returned to Tobago to train.

With swing changes in rotation for the 2005 season, I competed in the qualifier for the Samsung Canadian PGA Championship held at Angus Glen - a Nationwide Tour event. At the end of the day I was within a few shots of qualifying for the National Championship.

Representing the Ridge at Manitou in the Canadian Assistants’ Championship at The Briars Club, I tied for 40th out of hundreds in the three-day championship. My standing in the order of merit for the 2005 OPGA Assistants’ Tour was 35th. I also shared the course record at the Ridge at Manitou with Ian Doig, one of Canada’s representatives in the 2005 Bell Canadian Open.

With guidance from my coach, I maintained an extensive training program throughout the 2005 season at The Ridge at Manitou. I was fortunate enough to have access to Georgian College’s state-of-the-art teaching tool - the V-1 Digital Coaching System.

The future looks bright as golf is a never ending learning process. I will continue to compete and train golfers of all levels to play their best!
